Maybe is looking for sounds to fit 24 hours of programming across 7 days for our first radio. We are interested in all types of sounds of all qualities and forms. From interviews, recitations of literature, DJ mixes, field recordings of daily life, snippets from conversations, the sound of you typing at your desk.
Submission. To submit a sound, you can fill up the Google Form below. We ask for a 'name' for your program, a preferred timeslot, and an audio file. You can edit your form response to change your sound as frequently as you'd like, and we will periodically update the radio website in response. Sounds can be up to 1 hour in length, or might only take a few seconds. You may have as many timeslots as you would like. You do not have to submit original sounds.
Prompts for Sounds. If you are having trouble thinking about sounds to record, here are some prompts. Please do not think about what sounds are 'interesting' or not, and do not worry about processing sounds. We are less interested in what is 'interesting' and more interested in 'what is there.' Here are some prompts: interview a loved one or a child; take a voice memo of your morning routine; go on a silent walk and record the sounds around; a voice memo of you trying to recall your dream right after waking up; clip a part of a film you resent, or one you love deeply; put a sound on this radio that you think the world deserves; share the birdsong of a mystery bird and revel in how only the keenest birders will be able to identify it without any other information on the site; make a sound that feels like a wave; try to share a sound that you feel is 'rare'; share a sound that no one has ever heard before; recite the names of all your loved ones; let us know how your microwave sounds like; make up a sound for something that seems soundless.
